This is the entire route I walked and I still can’t quite believe it. From All Saints Hollybush, we walked the length of the Malverns from Midsummer to North Hill, then it was over to Bromyard, onto Kington, then Hay-on-Wye and so to Capel-y-Ffin – the aim of the whole journey. Heading back the route goes via Monmouth, Ross-on-Wye and back to All Saints Hollybush.
I did it in 14 days over a three week period, walking Monday to Friday and taking the weekends off. I was fortunate enough to be collected by my back up team – aka Mike in the trusty Skoda – at the end of each leg, apart from the Hay-on-Wye and Capel-y-Ffin ones when we stayed over.
And I was accompanied on some of the legs by heroic friends and neighbours – shout out to Simon, Cathy, Julian, Dave, Ruth and Mike.
I ended up walking 169.7 miles in 14 days and raising the frankly astounding sum of £5,200 which was split equally between Macmillan and the All Saints Hollybush toilet installation fund.
How I did it, and what impact that journey has had on my life since – you’ll have to read the book to find out!
